A Riverside County probate judge has taken a significant step by appointing a guardian ad litem to represent Dia Abrams’ legal interests since she cannot advocate for herself in court due to her disappearance.

This legal development follows a protracted probate court battle involving Dia Abrams’ two adult children, who sought to remove Keith Harper, her boyfriend, as the trustee of her estate.

The parties involved in the litigation believe that Dia Abrams, aged 65 at the time of her disappearance, may have passed away, although her remains have not been located.

Despite the hopeful signs of a settlement agreement reached in August 2022, complications arose when Harper’s attorney unexpectedly passed away, leading to renewed disputes over the agreement’s validity.

The probate judge, John Evans, has tentatively ruled to enter a judgment on the settlement term sheet, which includes appointing an independent trustee to manage and liquidate Dia Abrams’ estate.

A $300,000 reward for information related to her disappearance is also part of the settlement.
