The following story contains spoilers for Hawkeye Season 1 on Disney+.

When WandaVision debuted at the start of 2021, even Marvel fans had to be surprised by just how enticing and gripping that series was. While Wanda and Vision were interesting in their limited MCU screentime to that point, the series immediately fleshed them out into important characters who could both now be classified as fan-favorites. Loki, a few months later, arrived with a ton of hype—that titular villain-turned-anti-her0 was already a favorite of fans. It might be the biggest surprise of the year (and that's saying something) that Hawkeye turned out to maybe be the most fun series of them all.

It's no secret that it's been something of a struggle for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get fans on the same page as Clint Barton. And how could you blame them? When you're focusing on a genius billionaire who can create some of the coolest technology in fictional history, and a literal norse god, and a super-soldier, who really cares about a guy who just shoots a bow and arrow? What If...? did a good job telling a Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff story, making one thing abundantly clear: when you're putting these two in a story not next to next-level overpowered heroes, they can be extremely cool.

That paved the way, certainly, for what we got with the Hawkeye series; when you just have Clint Barton and Kate Bishop (longtime star Jeremy Renner and new MCU star Hailee Steinfeld) bouncing off each other, shooting some cool trick arrows, and kicking ass, it can make for a whole lot of fun—and those two great actors can really help.

But like with the other Disney+ Marvel shows, no one was really sure where this story would be headed next. Season 2? A movie? It remains to be seen—but here's what we know.

Will there be a Hawkeye Season 2?

We don't know for sure just yet, but the fact that Disney+ is promoting Episode 6 as a "season finale" and not a "series finale" is a good sign. Continuing the Marvel Studios Disney+ series so far has been something of a mixed bag; we know for sure that Loki and What If...? will be returning for second seasons, and we also know for sure that WandaVision was a one-and-done. We haven't gotten word either way on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it seems likely that story—and the character arcs around Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, and John Walker in particular—will continue in the announced-but-not-officially-announced Captain America 4 movie.

The story of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop will certainly continue, but we'll have to be patient to see if its in Hawkeye Season 2, or perhaps as a part of a future MCU film.

What would Hawkeye Season 2 be about?

That's a good question; much of Hawkeye season 1 were some arcs that may be self-contained here. One example: the story of Maya Lopez and Echo, which of course took up a good chunk of this season, and will continue on in the Echo spinoff series that we know is coming. That series will also likely continue any remaining mystery around the Kingpin (who we do not think we've seen the last of).
