Jamie Brewer, 38, succeeded in making history that some people never thought possible — she was the first person with Down syndrome to help lead a theatrical show on Broadway. But this isn’t all she’s doing. Brewer is here to prove that no physical condition can stand between you and your dreams. Breaking stereotypes has become nothing but a hobby for Jamie Brewer.

Jamie Brewer, 38, walked the runway in the Role Models Not Runway Models show, which featured women who are breaking boundaries in their respective industries. Brewer, who has been a vocal advocate for people with disabilities, wants to break down the barriers for people like her. And as far as we can see, she is doing it with all the enthusiasm in the world.

Brewer is not afraid of being seen as a role model. “Young girls and even young women...[see me] and say, ’Hey, if she can do it, so can I.’ It’s a true inspiration being a role model for any young women to [encourage them] in being who they are and showing who they are,” she said.

“Put your whole heart and soul into it, and then whatever you do, it will shine through,” Brewer explained.

Brewer has been a part of the American Horror Story franchise since its first season. She has appeared in several episodes and her inclusion on the show has helped bring visibility to people with disabilities in the entertainment industry and has been widely praised by the Down syndrome community.
