Keanu Reeves made his relationship with artist Alexandra Grant public in 2019. However, not much is known about their romantic relationship, as both prefer to keep their love life private. In a rare instance, Grant decided to open up about her beau in an interview, giving the world a peek into their life together as a couple.
A professional relationship that blossomed into a romantic one.
Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant had their debut as a couple in November 2019 when they walked the red carpet together at the LACMA Art + Film Gala. Although to the public it may have seemed to be just the beginning of their romance, the duo’s history together actually goes much further back.
In an interview, a source revealed Reeves and Grant had actually been dating for years. “It wasn’t a secret,” they said. “They have been dating since at least the summer of 2017.”
And even before then, the veteran actor and the visual artist had been creative partners. They first met at a dinner party in 2009, and prior to being romantically connected, they set out on professional ventures together. They collaborated on the books Ode to Happiness and Shadows and opened their own publishing company, X Artists Books.
Starting to date later on in life was positive for them.

In an interview from September 2023, Grant spoke candidly about her relationship, including how it was to date someone in the public eye and who works in a different creative field. When asked if it was easier or harder to walk red carpets by herself, the artist showed self-assurance.
“The good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my own career by the time that my relationship had begun,” she said. “I feel very confident in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident on it alone. It’s interdependent and independent in the best ways.”
She also described how they complement each other when it comes to their jobs as artists in different mediums. “What I love about Keanu and our exchange is that we’re pushing each other to build new roads,” she explained. “Seeing the other person’s problem-solving is inspiring, like, ’Oh, well, okay, this one, that’s a cul-de-sac. How do I try this other thing?’”
