Music Career
Kandi Burruss started her music career as a teenager, when she joined the girl group Xscape in 1992. The group had several hit songs, such as “Just Kickin’ It”, “Who Can I Run To” and “The Arms of the One Who Loves You”. They also won a Soul Train Music Award and were nominated for two Grammy Awards.
After Xscape disbanded in 1998, Kandi pursued a solo career and released her debut album Hey Kandi… in 2000. The album featured the hit single “Don’t Think I’m Not”, which reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Kandi also established herself as a successful songwriter and producer, working with artists like TLC, Destiny’s Child, Pink, Usher, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys. Kandi Burruss joined the cast of RHOA in 2009, during its second season. She has been a main cast member ever since, earning a salary of $450,000 per season. She is one of the most popular and influential housewives on the show, known for her outspokenness, business savvy and drama.
Kandi has also starred in several spin-off shows, such as The Kandi Factory, Kandi’s Wedding, Kandi’s Ski Trip and Xscape: Still Kickin’ It. She also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2019 and The Masked Singer in 2020, where she won the third season as the Night Angel.
