Jill Dougherty is a preeminent American academic and journalist. Currently, she works at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service as a Centennial Fellow and instructor. Jill is considered an expert on Russia and the previous Soviet Union. She spent much of her career as a journalist.

Jill started a career in academia back in 2014. Prior to joining Georgetown University, she worked for three decennaries on CNN as a correspondent. Jill served as Foreign Affairs correspondent and White House Correspondent.

She covered the US State Department. Furthermore, Jill was also commissioned as the managing editor for CNN Asia/Pacific, US Affairs Editor, and Moscow Bureau Chief (for almost ten years). She started her career as a writer and a Russian-language broadcaster for Voice of America, USSR Division. In 2013, Jill left CNN after three decennaries stints. However, she carries on with reporting as an independent consultant and analyst in Russia.
