During his 15 years career, he has played for the Dolphins in three periods of time from 1997 to 2007, and later in 2009 and in 2011.He also played a session each for the Washington Redskins and New York Jets.He was a four year letterman and three-year starter for the Akron Zips of the University of Akron.
After the six-time Pro bowl selection and four-time first or second-team All-pro, he was given the title of NFL defensive player of the year in 2006. He was named as the NFL Walter Payton Man of the year in 2007.Taylor was also selected for the NFL 2000s all-Decade team and was also induced into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
Taylor announced his retirement on December 28, 2011.He played his final game on January 1, 2012 in a 19-17 win against his former team, The New York Jets.
